She is influenced by the color, light, and spontaneity of the Impressionists, the mood of the Barbizon Painters, and the richness and documentary qualities of the Hudson River School.

She has chosen realism because of its power to connect with people. As a representational painter, she is constantly challenged by the task of harmonizing abstract and realistic qualities. Like life, maintaining a balance of all the elements is essential. She enjoys pushing and pulling colors, values, and compositional elements to achieve in her paintings that which resonated with her emotions at the moment of conception.

She appreciates the life long dedication involved in mastering such a technique of painterly realism and is committed to that goal. She is eager to see how her work will evolve along her artistic journey and is grateful to her teachers thus far, most notably Gregg Kreutz.

Jessica Dalrymple was born and raised in Bedford Hills, New York. At age 6 she began selling pictures on the side of the road. Her first collector was the mailman. A decade and a half later, she attended Hamilton College as a Fine Art Major. After graduation she moved to New York City and established her studio in the far West Village.

She trained at the Corcoran School of Art, in Washington D.C. and at the Art Student’s League of New York under Gregg Kreutz and Michael Burban. She has attended workshops with John Osbourne, Kenn Backus, and Joseph Pellar.

Her greatest inspiration comes from nature and so she spends much time painting en plein air. She is drawn to unspoiled, lush, and peaceful settings.
