“I painted on site the day before the Westinghouse building was completely demolished. While painting I met a local resident, a foreign student, a drug dealer, and another artist. They expressed a mix of loss, indifference, spurred creativity, and hope. I tried to represent these sentiments into this piece.”
End of An Era was painted for“The Westinghouse Project”, an exhibit hosted by The New Jersey School of Architecture. “The Westinghouse Project” is the fourth in a series of exhibits inspired by former factories undergoing demolition in Newark, NJ. The exhibitions were created and curated by Mathew Gosser who describes the process of creating works of art from abandoned buildings as “Ar+chaeology”
