'I love this show, it's my favorite, the charity aspect is so wonderful. . .Bedford is my hometown. . . I grew up here and what I do as painter has everything to do with being from Bedford. I'm always attracted to farms and rolling hills and there are so many pretty drives. . . I love the people who run the show, they make it such a pleasure' "

Theater Town” is the 5th Ar+chaeology Exhibit, hosted by The New Jersey Institute of Technology’s College of Art, Design, & Architecture and curated by Matthew Gosser. For the exhibit Jessica painted 9 plein air oil sketches of former theater sites. Some facades have retained their original detail while others have been leveled completely and turned into parking lots.
"It was quite an experience to paint on the streets of Newark and nice to hear people's thoughts and memories of the theaters."
The Beauty of Decay; Two exhibits find art in images of the city's relics
". . .The first (exhibit), curated by Matthew Gosser, evokes the days when Newark was home to as many as 100 theaters. . . most were torn down, although a few of the old ones, such as Symphany Hall and the Little Theater, are still up and running. Others. . . like the Paramount, RKO Proctor's, and the Adams have had their front lobbies turned into storefronts for selling sneakers or discount goods. A sense of their former dignity and glamour is captured in poignant oil sketches by the talented Jessica Dalrymple."
